and Monterey County Supervisor Jane Parker

on our beautiful Fort Ord trails

Friday, September 21 at 5:30 pm

Join Seaside Mayor Felix Bachofner and Monterey County Supervisor Jane Parker for an early evening walk on the beautiful former Fort Ord. Enjoy some outdoor recreation and casual conversation with your local elected leaders. Marina Mayor Bruce Delgado will provide some information about the fauna and flora of the area.

We will meet at the 4-way intersection of Normandy Ave., Parker Flats Rd., and Parker Flats Cut-off (at the barricades just east of Marshall Elementary School.)

DIRECTIONS:

If you are coming from Highway 1, either going north or south, take Highway 1 to exit 406. You'll end up on Lightfighter Drive when you get off the highway. You'll be taking a right onto General Jim Moore, and then a left onto Gigling road. Once you're on Gigling Road, you'll be taking a right onto Parker Flats Road. Drive down Parker Flats road past the various army buildings into a suburban neighborhood. You'll be parking at the corner of Normandy and Parker Flats, where there's a little pullout (no real parking lot). You can probably park on the street too.

If you are coming from Salinas via Highway 68, you'll want to turn onto CA-218/Canyon Del Rey at the 7/11 near Ryan Ranch, as if you were going to the Safeway. Instead of going to the Safeway, you're going to take a right onto General Jim Moore, and then once you're on General Jim Moore, you'll take a right onto Normandy.

Google Maps pinpoints our meeting location at: "314 Normandy Road, Seaside, CA"

Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a water bottle. Feel free to bring your camera and a pair of binoculars if you have them. If you'd like to bring a sack dinner, there will be many beautiful spots to take a rest and enjoy your meal.

Please note that this will be a slow paced walk and talk.
