In her opening comments after being sworn-in to serve on the Board of Supervisors, Jane said, "I can not do this alone, I will need your help." Supervisor Parker is not alone in calling for the active engagement of people in government affairs and community service.
President Obama has been explicit about his expectation that we, as Americans, have a responsibility to help our communities and fellow citizens. He has said, "I will ask for your service and active citizenship when I am President of the United States. This will not be a call issued in one speech or program; this will be a cause of my presidency." Imagine what we could accomplish if every person in Monterey County responded to this call to action.
Research shows that people who volunteer and participate in other acts of kindness are happier and healthier. What kind action have you taken today? Restorative justice is about healing and addressing the wrongs that have been committed and repairing the relationships in the community.The Victim-Offender Mediation Training will cover basic restorative justice principles and will prepare participants to conduct Victim-Offender Mediations with juvenile offenders. Jane Parker is pleased to recognize and acknowledge the many individuals who serve the County as representatives of the Fourth District on County Commissions. Commissions are tasked with advising the Board of Supervisors on specific issues as well as performing oversight of specific programs or activities within the county. Each Supervisor is responsible for appointing commissioners to represent their District based on the bylaws of each Commission. Read More...
