Supervisor Jane Parker is pleased to announce that Janettia Williams and Quyen Nguyen have been selected as recipients of the 2013 Jane Parker Instigator of Excellence Scholarship. Created
to recognize graduating seniors who are instigators of excellence in their
community, the Jane Parker Instigator of Excellence
Scholarship is open to all students who reside within the County of Monterey
District 4 boundaries. Quyen Nguyen is a resident of Marina, CA and graduating senior at Marina High School, planning to continue her education at UC San Diego in pursuit of a degree in computer science and engineering. She is described as a as a highly motivated student who stands out academically due to her strong focus, hard work and intelligence, yet also stands out due to her strong interpersonal skills, creativity, and leadership ability. Quyen was presented a ceremonial Proclamation at the June 4th Marina City Council Meeting and will receive a $250 scholarship. Janettia Williams is a resident of Seaside, CA and graduating senior at Seaside High School, planning to continue her education at Monterey Peninsula College in pursuit of a degree in kinesiology, with the ultimate goal of becoming a nurse. Janettia is described as an excellent writer of beautiful poetry, a meticulous and kind worker, who is responsible, compassionate and intelligent. Janettia was presented with a ceremonial Proclamation at the May 23rd Seaside High School Awards Ceremony and will receive a $250 scholarship. |
